3D PRINTING AS A HOBBY
Past and present 3D printing related projects
ORIGINS
In 2015 I purchased my first 3D printer (Pictured to the right). While being spontaneous I had no idea how much of my life would be dedicated to this hobby in a years time. I started off slow, printing fun little things I found on the internet like a scaled down replica of a comic book character. Quickly I had become immersed in the field of additive manufacturing and began to look into other technologies. It became apparent to me that 3D printing is the future of manufacturing complex parts that other processes fail to achieve. In 2017 I purchased my second printer which boasted more features and better quality prints. This would be the machine that allowed me to design practical solutions to my everyday life. Fast forward to 2019, I currently own 4 3D printers, each with different features and movement capabilities. I enjoy the diversity that each has to offer. Each project has been met with a challenge that has varied from minor printer repair to major design adjustment.

VORON DESIGN OPEN SOURCE 3D PRINTER
Building printers from the ground up
As a person who immediately loved the community of makers and designers, I always wanted to source, purchase, and build a 3D printer. In this case I was standing on the shoulders of many brilliant people in the open source community. I researched open source 3D printers over the course of 3 months and eventually came across the Voron v2.1. This printer had a great community behind it and an even better design that allowed for print speeds only found in some delta format printers. This printer utilizes 4 stepper motors to control each corner of the gantry to provide the best bed leveling experience. I purchased all the parts and fully assembled the printer in 2019. It is currently up and running with a total build area of 350mmx350mmx350mm. (Pictured below)
